1、意识凝注一处:凝神。
1. Fixing the consciousness on one object is concentration (dhāraṇā).
तत्र प्रत्ययैकतानता ध्यानमः ॥ २॥
tatra pratyayaikatānatā dhyānamḥ .. 2..
tatra = there, in that在那里
pratyaya = thought, content of mind, perception, intention, cause, indirect cause, internal seeds, 思想、意识内容、观念、意识倾向、间因、外缘、潜意识种子
eka = one一个
tānatā = extension, stretching延续的
ekatānatā = one continuous flow 一个连续的流
dhyānam = meditative absorption, contemplation (深度思想的吸入)
2、思想一直持续不断流入对象:入神。
2. A steady, continuous flow of consciousness directed towards the same object is meditative absorption (dhyāna).
तदः एवार्थमात्रनिर्भासं स्वरूपशून्यमः इव समाधिः ॥ ३॥
tadḥ evārthamātranirbhāsaṃ svarūpaśūnyamḥ iva samādhiḥ .. 3..
tad = its, that那个、它的
eva = thus以此方式、如此、这样、其结果是、因此、于是、从而、所以
artha = purpose, meaning, approach目标、目的、意义
mātra = only只有
nirbhāsaṃ = shining发光
sva = own自己的
rūpa = form形式、形体
śūnyam = empty虚无、空无
iva = like, thus, as it were似乎、好像
samādhiḥ = unity, oneness, integration(全神融合为一体的状态)
3、由此,一直到只有目标显在,似乎自身无存:合神。
3. When the object of meditation engulfs the meditator, appearing as the subject only, self-awareness or own form is lost. This is unity ( samādhi).
त्रयमः एकत्र संयमः ॥ ४॥
trayamḥ ekatra saṃyamaḥ .. 4..
trayam = these three这三个
ekatra = in one, as one在一起、作为一个
saṃyamaḥ = integration,holding together,tying up,binding,constrain, perfect discipline(全部统合/控制到一起)
4、以上三者一体:全神合一(总制/入定)。
4. These three together [dhāraṇā, dhyāna and samādhi] constitute integration (saṃyama).
